I know what you’re thinking by the title of this story it cannot be a very happy one. You would not believe what happened two days ago. My fiancé and I were busy working when we noticed our two chocolate labs were nowhere to be found. How could this be? We have a big backyard for them to run around in and a fence closes it off so that they cannot get out. Well it turns out somebody and we still do not know whom, left our gate open! When our dogs realized the gate was open they ran for the hills, and I mean literally!
It took us an hour to realize that they were gone and we had known idea where to look. Our house is on a hill and there are tons of other homes and fields that surround us. My fiancé and I jumped in the car as fast as we could and drove around looking for them for hours. After a good couple of hours we knew we had to come home and wait to see if anybody turned them in. Now these two dogs would stick out to anybody. They are best friends and so they always travel together. Also they are both about 90lbs so they look like miniature horses.
The dogs got out about 10am and at 3pm somebody had taken them to the dog shelter and that is where we found them. We ended up having to pay an impound fee and now we are researching who could have possibly left our gate open. What a crazy day! I will keep you posted how the research goes…
