We are having some whacky winter weather in Oregon right now! Yesterday it snowed 3 inches! Our dogs hate the cold and they are not fond of snow. For the most part we are keeping them in doors but we still have to make sure they keep hydrated and get fresh air. When I let them out this morning the water in their dish was frozen and the ground still had 2 inches of snow! I had to put their food on a metal pan and I gave them a little extra to keep them full. When I looked at the deck after letting them in I noticed quite a bit of yellow snow. Now I know why they say never eat yellow snow! As if I needed an explanation.
Whenever there is extreme temperatures you have to remember to keep an extra eye on your pets special needs. Our dogs have needed extra water because of the humidity in the air. They have also needed to be let in earlier then normal because it is so cold outside. Our cat is an indoor cat and the only thing I have noticed with her is she is extra thirsty as well. Be sure when the temperatures change to always be aware of how it affects your pets.
