Here is what I found: the most common mistake is purchasing or adopting a pet with out taking everything in consideration. Make sure you do all your research before you go out and fall in love with a cute animal you can not live with out!
The next mistake pet owners make is purchasing pets from a pet store. The pet store is likely to go out and replace it with the same pet. This encourages breeding and can lead to mistreatment of pets. It is much better to consider a shelter or breed rescue group.
Another common mistake is not setting appropriate boundaries for pets. This can start the day you take home your pet. By giving the pet free reign you are setting it up for failure! Set boundaries that the pet can follow to avoid heartache in the end!
