I have a house filled with pets! My fiance’ and I have two chocolate labs, two chinchillas, and a white Himalayan cat. One of our dogs is a male and his name is JC standing for “Just Chocolate” and one of our dogs is a female and her name is Hershey like a “Hershey Kiss”. Our chinchillas are named Cheech and Chong. Our cat is named Purl like a purr.
The dogs are pretty easy going and behave themselves most of the time. The only time they are difficult is when they are hungry and they bark and bark until they get fed, or when they are outside and want inside or vice versa. They are just like babies! They cannot communicate so they have to bark to get what they want! My fiance’ and I love to take them for walks. We go on a trail near our house called the “Springwater Trail”. Also for a special treat every month we take them to “Pup and Scrub” which is a dog grooming facility located a couple miles from our home. This is where we are able to bathe, groom, and clip them, leaving the mess somewhere else! We walk them there and back and then since the dogs are clean they are able to come in the house and play for half the day! They love being in the house with us!
Purl on the other hand does not get to go for walks. She is an inside cat. She has very long fur and if she goes outside it gets very dirty and knotty. She has only gotten out of the house one time and her fur was such a mess we had to take her and get shaved! While she was at the groomer’s, she was not very compliant about the whole shaving experience. She made it very difficult to be shaved and in the middle of the process we received a phone call from the groomer stating “Purl has decided she will not complete her shaving appointment! Please come get your cat immediately!” She is usually a pretty good cat. The other time she is difficult is when she does not want to be held and we want to hold her. She usually gets angry and tries to scratch us so that we will not try to cuddle with her.
The chinchillas are very well behaved except for when they make a lot of noise at night. They are nocturnal so they sleep during the day and are awake at night. Sometimes they get very loud and wake us up! So I have to say that having a house full of pets is anything but quiet! Although it is a small price to pay for all the love the animals provide!
